Right around this time of year, almost every year since 1933, a little town east of the Sacramento River has held a certain contest. More than a thousand competitors come together in a town called Rio Vista, for a festival full of thousands more people — and you’ve probably never heard of it.
This weekend will be the competition’s 68th year and KALW’s Laura Klivans thinks it’s time you got to know what’s going on, on the other side of the river. Here’s a dispatch from a festival a few years back
This year’s Rio Vista Bass Derby and Festival is Friday through Sunday, October 9th, 10th, and 11th.
