Joanna Strober is co-author of Getting to 50 50: How Working Parents Can Have it Allby Sharing it All. She and her co-author Sharon Meers are both working parents in the Bay Area, and they set out to write a guide for couples on how to share the work of parenting while prioritizing both of their careers. Strober spoke with KALW’sHana Baba about what inspired her and Meers to write this book.
STOBER: We want people to see really positive role models. I grew up with a mom who stayed at home, and in a very traditional relationship. And then I went off to law school and I started working at a law firm that had only one woman partner, and everyone talked about the fact that she was working as she went into labor and how scary it was. So what we are trying to do is to show there are lots of role models, lots of people who are successful in doing this in different ways.
