(SF Gate) // The U.S. Supreme Court made three key decisions today regarding Arizona's SB 1070 law, mandatory life sentencing of minors, and corporate campaign financing. The Court struck down many provisions of the controversial SB 1070 law, but upheld the requirement for police to check a suspect's immigration status. Mandatory life sentencing of minors was deemed cruel and unusual punishment, and the Court upheld its 2010 Citizen United decision, allowing corporations to give independently to campaigns...

(Contra Costa Times) // Concord will vote on a proposed school district budget tonight. Cuts in next year's Mt. Diablo school district budget include cutting bussing for students in Bay Point due to declining revenues. The Mt. Diablo school district has over 34,000 students making it one of the largest districts in the state...

(Contra Costa Times) // The Bay Area News Group's Public Employee Salaries Database now tracks 307 California public agencies including Bay Area school districts. The latest database additions include Piedmont Unified, San Lorenzo Unified, and Palo Alto Unified. Over 10,000 employees and $1 billion in government spending are on the site, which will be updated throughout the year as more agencies submit data...

(SF Gate) // This Tuesday, the Berkeley City Council will vote on renaming Harold Way to Dharma Way. The city's historical, founding family name may become Dharma, or "truth" in Sanskrit, after the recently opened Tibetan Buddhist center located near the library. The Tibetan group paid $800 to start the renaming process and so far has not faced any objections. If passed, new street signs will be installed as early as this summer...

(KGO) // George Lucas continues his San Anselmo improvements by donating a building at 535 San Anselmo Avenue to the San Anselmo Community Foundation. The vacant building will be demolished and turned into a park featuring bronze statues of Indiana Jones and Yoda. Lucas owns various properties in San Anselmo and is also the owner of Skywalker Ranch and Big Rock. Lucas' previous San Anselmo civic engagement activities include sidewalk improvements, placing power lines underground, and allowing local artists to display paintings in the front windows of his buildings. 

(SF Gate) // The 42nd Annual Pride celebration drew thousands of young gay people to the festivities yesterday. Older generations of gay activists see this as proof of the movement's success.
