Your Call: Technology hype and its failure to drive social change

Jan 6, 2016

On the January 6th edition of Your Call, Computer Scientist Kentaro Toyama joins us to discuss his new book, Geek Heresy: Rescuing Social Change from the Cult of Technology.

Toyama argues that no technology, however dazzling, can cause social change on its own. We’ve seen the explosion of new technologies over the last four decades, yet the rate of poverty persists. Also joining the discussion is Jason Benlevi author of Too Much Magic: Pulling the Plug on the Cult of Tech.

What have our gadgets actually accomplished? And what are the best solutions to solve our social challenges? It's Your Call with Rose Aguilar and you.
