Your Call: A model for ending sweatshop conditions, the story of the Alta Gracia factory

How did one factory challenge the apparel industry’s sweatshops? The Alta Gracia factory in the Dominican Republic is the only factory in the global south to pay workers a living wage.

The small factory boasts high health and safety standards, and a legitimate union. The new book Sewing Hope tells the story of how workers, industry insiders, and labor advocates created an apparel factory committed to treating workers fairly. How can this model be replicated?

Guests:

Sarah Adler-Milstein, worker-rights advocate and co-author of Sewing Hope: How one Factory Challenges the Apparel Industry’s Sweatshops

Scott Nova, executive director of the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC)
