Your Call Live, June 6: When fear threatens civil liberties

By Ansel Adams as part of the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington
Mess line at Manzanar Relocation Center in California

Join Your Call’s next live show Thursday, June 6, 6 p.m. at Stage Werx for a discussion on building solidarity to protect civil rights and liberties. Host Rose Aguilar will be in conversation with attorney Don Tamaki who served on the Korematsu v. the United States case, law professor Bill Ong Hing, and Leila Sayed-Taha of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center. The event is free. Reserve your tickets on Eventbrite.

As part of our series “HEAR: Histories of Exclusion and Resistance” we’ve discussed the echoes of Japanese American internment in modern policies and rhetoric. Join us for a conversation about building solidarity across communities to protect civil rights and liberties for everyone. How are scholars, activists and historians mobilizing to address policies like immigration detention, the proposed census citizenship question, and the travel ban?

HEAR is made possible by funding from the California State Library's California Civil Liberties Public Education Program.

Rose Aguilar has been the host of Your Call since 2006. She became a regular media roundtable guest in 2001. In 2019, the San Francisco Press Club named Your Call the best public affairs program. In 2017, The Nation named it the most valuable local radio show.
