Your Call: Gangster warlords and the new politics of Latin America

RENATO MILLER

On the March 10th edition of Your Call, we’ll revisit our conversation with Journalist Ioan Grillo about his new book, “Gangster Warlords: Drug Dollars, Killing Fields, and the New Politics of Latin America.”

In 2014, U.S. authorities detained more than 67,000 unaccompanied children, the majority of whom were fleeing violence plaguing Central America.

Since the Cold War ended, Grillo says, drug gangs have grown into cartels wielding violence and enough power to strong-arm governments and command militias.

How are narcos affecting civil society and politics across the Americas and the Caribbean? It’s Your Call with Rose Aguilar and you.

Guest:
Ioan Grillo, journalist and author of "Gangster Warlords: Drug Dollars, Killing Fields, and the New Politics of Latin America" and "El Narco"
