On this edition of Your Call, we’ll speak with educator and author Dina Gilio-Whitaker about her new book As Long as Grass Grows: The Indigenous Fight for Environmental Justice, from Colonization to Standing Rock.
She examines what she calls an ongoing ecocide against Native people, and tensions between these communities and the mainstream environmental movement – which has at times contributed to violations of Indigenous self-determination. She argues that modern environmentalists must look to the history of Indigenous resistance for inspiration in our common fight for a just and sustainable future.
