KALW is proud to bring *new* shows to the Bay Area this spring!
It's Been a Minute with political journalist Sam Sanders begins broadcasting weekly at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. This hour of informative and fun radio is an irreverent, casual space to process the break neck pace of current events and get introduced to new favorites in music, TV, and more. It's a wrap of the week paired with deep dive interviews. As Sam says,"The world is complicated; let's talk it out."
Weekend favorite Bullseye (with San Francisco's own Jesse Thorn) moves to a new spot at noon on Saturdays. And the CBC's Day 6 will air on Fridays at 8 p.m., making KALW the first place you can hear this unusual take on the week's news anywhere, including in Canada!
We also made the difficult decision to stop airing WXXI's Fascinatin' Rhythm on Friday evenings. We are proud to have brought Michael Lasser's weekly playlist of the Great American Songbook and his insightful commentary to our airwaves for over 30 years, since the program was syndicated in 1989. Thank you for listening and supporting this show over the years with your ears and hearts. And know that you can keep up with Michael and the show here.
CBC's Q, Canada's liveliest arts and entertainment magazine debuts in the Bay Area on Monday, April 15, at 6 p.m. We'll air Tom Power's signature blend of warm curiosity and playful wit as he interviews artists, performers, and newsmakers Monday through Thursday. This program replaces our evening rebroadcast of Fresh Air--a show KALW brought to the Bay Area over 30 years ago--and one we will continue to air every weekday morning at 9 a.m.
Over its 75+ year history, KALW has led the way in the Bay Area bringing new programming to the airwaves, new voices, and new perspectives. We are grateful for your ears, your thoughtful comments, and your attentive and engaged presence in this community.
To more great Bay Area radio moments!
