Sights & Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene. Walter Hood, an artist and designer who renovated the Bayview Opera House, told KALW’s Jen Chien about three cool arts events happening around the Bay this weekend.

Berkeley Eye: Perspectives on the Collection is an exhibition drawn from the art collection of the University of California, Berkeley. It comprises 150 works from the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archives collection organized into thematic groupings, such as Human Nature; Space, Time, Energy; Barriers & Walls; Connection & Change. BAMPFA gives guided tours of the exhibition Wednesdays through Sundays.

If you haven't been over to the new museum, I think this is a wonderful opportunity to see Diller Scofidio's new remake of the museum.

The Oakland Museum of California has a weekly family-friendly event on Fridays, featuring food trucks, art, and music. During this Friday's event, OMCA will host the final installment in their series Ask an Expert, with Beau Kilmer of the RAND Drug Policy Center. He will answer questions about cannabis policies.

One of the things that First Friday or First Friday evenings has done for the museum has really broken the box.

t.w.five are the September Artists-in-Residence at the de Young Museum. This Friday, visitors can see the artists' large-scale installation made of hand-cut vinyl and will have the opportunity to make their own works using this material.

I'm really interested to see if they transform the museum? Or is it held off to the sides? Or will it transform the grounds?
