Can you feel fall in the air? We can! Please join us as we welcome new shows and bid adieu to old favorites.
KALW welcomes Conversations from the World Cafe to the Bay Area. This mix of live performance and insightful interviews with contemporary musicians is an hour-long treat for the ears and mind. Join us Saturday, October 12th, at 2 p.m. when this program debuts and listen in for a new host at the end of the month, music journalist Raina Douris. Conversations replaces longtime NPR show Thistle and Shamrock. Thank you, Thistle, for the decades of beautiful music from Celtic roots. We’ll be listening online!
Host and career coach Marty Nemko has contributed 30 years to public radio in the Bay Area on KALW. His last show is on Thursday, October 3rd, and we’d like to congratulate and thank Marty (and his wife Barbara!) for service to this community--and for three decades of advice, interviews, and stories about our working lives. We wish him the best in his continued professional endeavors.
Beginning Thursday, October 10, at 7 p.m. we’ll debut Thursday Night Special, showcasing voices from the Bay Area and beyond. We kick off the fall season with our very own Audio Academy, a free training program for adults that has produced exceptional work. Our alums have gone on to work at media outlets such as Snap Judgement, Radio Diaries, The Washington Post, and of course KALW! Tune in on October 10th, 17th, and 24th, as we celebrate their accomplishments with a special series that digs into the archives and celebrates learning and storytelling at the frontlines.
