The Ongoing Protests For Racial Justice & The Rise Of Far-Right Armed Militias

Sep 2, 2020

On this edition of Your Call, we’re going to Milwaukee, Portland, and Sacramento to discuss the ongoing protests for racial justice in the wake of the recent shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black father who was shot in the back seven times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His family says he is paralyzed from the waist down.

We'll discuss the original demands for racial justice and an end to police violence, the right-wing armed militia groups that have attempted to hijack recent protests, Donald Trump's visit to Kenosha, and the upcoming election.

Guests:

Gregory McKelvey, vice chair of Oregon Democratic Black Caucus and board president of Brown Hope, a nonprofit and community solution for racial justice

Jamilia Land, member of All of Us or None and close family friend of Stephon Clark, who was shot and killed by police officers in Sacramento in March 2018

Reggie Jackson, senior columnist with the Milwaukee Independent
