Oakland Mayoral Race '14: Candidate Nancy Sidebotham

Oakland Mayoral Candidate Nancy Sidebotham

On November 4th, Oakland voters will pick their next mayor. All month on “Crosscurrents,” we are going to bring you the voices of each of the 15 people who are campaigning for the job.

Candidate Nancy Sidebotham has lived in Oakland for fifty years, and she is no stranger to campaigns and Oakland city elections.

She has run for the District 6 seat on the Oakland City Council every time it has been available, since 1990. Now, she has her eye on the mayoral seat.

Sidebotham is Chair of the 29X (Millsmont/Evergreen/Millsbrae) Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and a member of the Neighborhood Watch Steering Committee (NWSC).  In her mayoral campaign, she advocates for community policing and open spaces. Prior to the campaign, she was involved with the 2011 efforts to recall Mayor Jean Quan.

Sidebotham came to our studios to outline changes and actions she would like to see happen for Oakland, and what she would do, as mayor, to make them a reality.
