Oakland mayoral candidate Cat Brooks on the homeless crisis, jobs, and illegal dumping

Courtesy of Cat Brooks

Cat Brooks is an activist and actress. She was a major voice in advocating for Oscar Grant. Brooks is the executive director of the Justice Team Network, which is an organization that helps people who are victims of state violence and criminalization.

"I think [Tuff Sheds] are open-air jails and chemically-treated tool sheds that are not fit for human beings to live in."

She tells KALW’s Jenee Darden why she’s ready for a new role, Oakland mayor.

You can find Jeneè's interviews with all the Oakland mayoral candidates here.
