Next on City Visions: What does a future with driverless cars look like?

On Monday night's show, City Visions host Ethan Elkind will look at our future in a world with self-driving cars, also known as autonomous vehicles.  Self-driving cars are already prowling our streets and highways on trial runs, thanks to the many Bay Area companies racing to perfect this technology.

What are the implications for mass transit and uber drivers, whose jobs will disappear as autonomous vehicles become more prevalent?  If a driverless car crashes, who is liable - the software developer, the car manufacturer, the passenger, or someone else?  And how will our cities change if driverless cars become widely adopted?  The answers might surprise you.  Join us at 7pm on Monday September 19 to weigh in on how you feel about a future with driverless cars.

Guests:

Susan Shaheen, Ph.D., Co-director, Transportation Sustainability Research Center, and Adjunct Professor, University of California, Berkeley.

Gerry Tierney, Associate Principal at architectural and design firm Perkins + Will.

Dorothy Glancy, Professor of Law at Santa Clara University.
