The KALW News team is looking for an experienced radio producer/reporter/editor to lead our elections coverage for our newscasts, elections specials, Election Briefs podcast, and daily news magazine Crosscurrents.
You will be the go-to person for our news department on 2020 elections coverage, coordinating our team of more than a dozen contributors on short and long features, audio and print products, and engagement campaigns. You'll work with the Hearken audience engagement platform as well as the Solutions Journalism Network. KALW has a track record of effective and comprehensive election coverage, and you'll build from that foundation as well as work we've prepped organizing and activating our elections strategy through the summer.
This is a four-month independent contract position that will pay $5,000 per month, beginning August 1, 2020. Candidates must live in and/or have a strong understanding of the San Francisco Bay Area.
You'll contribute to a highly decorated news department, part of a team of award-winning reporters, editors, and sound engineers who produce nationally recognized features and series, such as Learning While Black: The Fight For Equity In San Francisco Schools, Persistent Poison: Lead's Toxic Legacy In The Bay Area, and podcasts, including The Intersection and The Stoop. You'll have support from a talented and cohesive management team motivated to help you do your best work.
