“I really had a love affair with anger . . . personally, I married her”

Steve Drown and JulianGlenn Padgett
Damon Cooke speaking.

From the series Uncuffed:

Damon Cooke says that anger used to make him feel powerful. It would also get him into trouble. After getting locked up, Damon started to think about his relationship with rage as a kind of love affair — one that he had the power to end.

Producer JulianGlenn Padgett spoke to Damon about his relationship with anger.

We got a divorce. It was amicable.

Damon, now a prisoner at Solano State Prison in Vacaville, first wrote about his “love affair” with anger when he was incarcerated at San Quentin in Marin. There, in a class called “Guiding Rage Into Power,” Damon wrote a poem about the roots of his anger.
