Folk Music & Beyond: Celebrating Pete & Anais

May 2, 2019

Legendary folk icon Pete Seeger would have turned 100 years old on May 3, 2019.  In honor of Pete, his good friend Pat Humphries (of the duo Emma’s Revolution)  joins us in-studio this Saturday at 3 pm.

Pat shares her fond memories of Pete during the last decades of his life and performs a few songs in his honor.

Congratulations to Anais Mitchell!  A few days ago, Anais snagged fourteen Tony nominations for her folk opera Hadestown, which opened on Broadway last month.  What an amazing accomplishment for a humble progressive folk singer!  KALW’s Max Jacobs shares his interview with Anais Mitchell, conducted before Hadestown hit Broadway.  We’ll hear from Anais, following our tribute to Pete during the 4 o’clock hour.

If you missed today's program, you can listen to it on-demand for one week following the broadcast.  Return to the homepage and click the "music & arts" tab.
