City Visions Election Coverage: Barriers to the Ballot Box

The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy. Yet across the country there are increasing barriers to the ballot box due to purges of voter rolls, strict identification requirements, cutbacks in early voting, and many other obstacles. Even here in California, there are many who are disenfranchised.

Join Joseph Pace and guests and they examine infringements of the right to vote and the potential impacts on mid-term elections.

GUESTS:

LISA GARCÍA BEDOLLA, Director of the Institute of Governmental Studies and Chancellor’s Professor in the Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley;

RAÚL MACÍAS, Voting Rights Project Manager and Attorney at the ACLU of Northern California; and

MINDY ROMERO, Founder and Director of the California Civic Engagement Project.
