(Oakland Tribune) // Harborside Healthcenter’s eviction notice was heard in federal court yesterday in San Francisco. As noted in our last roundup, the question of “when” still seems to be as important as “what,” since Harborside was openly selling marijuana for six years before the US Attorney became interested.
Judge Maria Elena James did not announce a decision in the case, but indicated she will do so “as soon as possible.”
(MMJ Daily) // Weedmaps owner SearchCore has sold the online service to an undisclosed buyer, despite a better than 20 percent increase in third quarter earnings. SearchCore was one of the few publicly traded marijuana service companies.
(NORML) // The report of an 86 percent drop in misdemeanor cannabis arrests nationally last year, compared to the year before, is misleading, according to advocacy group California NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). “These figures don't include citations for possession of less than one ounce, which used to be counted as misdemeanors,” NORML says in a press release.
(Vanity Fair) // Comedian Chris Rock says he’s all for legalization of marijuana. He justifies it by adding, “…we all know that alcohol is worse and legal. Seth Rogan [star of the stoner film “Pineapple Express”] is a productive member of society. Mel Gibson [maybe as well known for his alcoholic outbursts as for acting] has a problem.”
Rock’s comments are found in an interview with Judd Apatow in the January issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
