Dispensary bans in Orange County seen as a “place holder” // Orange County Register Towns in Orange County – and throughout California —see these steps as a way to preserve local control before state rules go into effect.
Wrong date listed for statewide medical marijuana rules // Ukiah Daily Journal “A March 1, 2016 deadline written into the state’s new Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act asking counties and cities to adopt local cultivation regulations or automatically deliver local control to the state is incorrect, according to one California legislator.”
So when does it happen? “As an urgency measure, the law will go into effect as soon as it is signed by the governor,” says Assemblyman Jim Wood.
Oklahoma pursues charges against Colorado // MJ Biz Daily Oklahoma and Nebraska “filed a lawsuit a year ago alleging that Colorado’s rec law does direct harm to both their states by increasing the illegal flow of cannabis through their borders. The two asked the high court to nullify the law.”
The Obama administration suggested last week that the court not consider the matter.

Lynnette Shaw targeted by DOJ, again // East Bay Express An appeal was filed last week to block Shaw from re-opening her Marin Alliance of Medical Marijuana dispensary, considered to be the first licensed dispensary in California. This is in direct violation of a court ruling ordering the Department of Justice to stop harassing dispensaries. The DOJ doesn’t quite see it that way.
Oakland investment incubator helps growers, too // OaklandNorth Most cannabis investment firms shy away from businesses that “touch the plant” (as the saying goes). Not Gateway, Inc., which announced operations last week.
East Bay dispensaries work with police // SF Gate Detectives were seen removing boxes from prominent Berkeley cannabis dispensaries last week. It wasn’t a raid, though. They were shuttling gifts donated for the police holiday toy drive.
Concentrates qualify as medical in California // Sacramento Bee “A unanimous three-justice panel of the 3rd District Court of Appeal disagreed this week with an earlier ruling by El Dorado Superior Court Judge James R. Wagoner and reversed the judge’s decision that a medical marijuana patient violated probation by possessing concentrated cannabis.”
Medical marijuana now legal in Columbia // Associated Press via Yahoo News “Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos is legalizing the cultivation and sale of marijuana for medical and scientific purposes.”
