Since 2002, Mortified has been a cultural phenomenon where adults relive their awkward adolescence by reading their teen diaries, poems, letters and more in front of total strangers.
Part comedy, part theater, part therapy, participants range from professional performers to amateurs. Since its inception, Mortified has expanded from a stage show to a documentary movie, a Sundance TV series, a Netflix series and several books.
Today’s Mortified readers are Amy Dala, Mary Van Note, and Mortified’s Bay Area producer Scott Lifton. The freestyle hip hop, improv group The Freeze is the house band.
