Art critic and historian Hal Foster and SFMOMA senior curator Gary Garrels examine the life and work of San Francisco-born sculptor Richard Serra, whose site-specific steel structures can be seen throughout the Bay Area.
Serra’s work can be seen at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, Gap headquarters in San Francisco, Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, Oliver Ranch in Sonoma County, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Foster and Serra are co-authors of Conversations About Sculpture, drawn from their talks over a 15-year period.
