Oct 23, 2019

This week on Open Air, KALW’s radio magazine for the Bay Area performing arts, host David Latulippe will talk to Marc Brew, artistic director of AXIS Dance Company, and London-based choreographer Arthur Pita, about in·ter·twine, AXIS’ 2019 Fall Home Season, at Z Space in San Francisco, on October 25, 26 and 27.

in·ter·twine includes the first international commission under the direction of Marc Brew, Pita’s Alice in Californiland.  Also on the program is Flutter from Bay Area choreographer Robert Dekkers, and a new world premiere from NYC based choreographer and artistic director of Arch Dance Company, Jennifer Archibald, with the title Petrichor - the smell of earth after rain.

From San Francisco’s Ray of Light Theatre, we talk with actor D’Arcy Drollinger (pic 2, center) and director/choreographer Alex Rodriguez, about the 5th annual (and last ever) production of The Rocky Horror Show that the company will produce. Under the direction of and with choreography by Alex Rodriguez, there are many exciting surprises and changes to make sure that this final year will be extra thrilling. Performances are ongoing through November 2 at the Victoria Theatre (2961 16th Street between Mission and Capp St.) in San Francisco.

Plus, Open Air’s regular contributor and critic at large, Peter Robinson, invites listeners to settle down with some good books, to which he reviews some excellent fireside reading for November, with the latest from John le Carre, Margaret Atwood, and a revisit of the poetry of W.H. Auden, and more...

Open Air with host David Latulippe; heard live on Thursday, October 24 at 1pm. Listen now or anytime...
