Thursday

Free drive-In Movie Night // The West Wind Drive-in movie theaters in Concord and San Jose host a Free Drive-in Movie Night, plus a festival with live music and games. All movies are double features. Admission is free and you can chow down on $1 nachos.

Friday

Fourth Friday Art Walk // Enjoy specials, art exhibits, refreshments and more from local businesses from 6-9 pm every fourth Friday of the month. Head down to the 9th & Irving intersection on the N-Judah and pick up a map of the businesses that are participating.

Movies in the Park : Diary of a wimpy kid //Movies in the Park are back for 2013 at the Redwood Heights Recreation Center in Oakland. All movies begin at dusk. Be sure to dress warm and bring a lawn chair and or blanket. Popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks and hot dogs will be available for purchase.

Queen's Day 2013 // The Dutch community in San Francisco invites you to celebrate Queen’s Day 2013 near the Murphy Windmill on the south end of Golden Gate Park. Enjoy a full-day festival celebrating the restoration of Golden Gate Park’s windmills, with a bike parade, free tours, live music, tulips, flea market and all things dutch.

Botball 2013 Robot Battle Tournament// Watch some of the brightest high school geeks in the Bay Area pit their home-made autonomous robots (no remote controls allowed) against each other in the Northern California “BotBall” tournament at Independence High School in San Jose. // DETAILS: Independence High School Gym, 1776 Educational Park Dr., San Jose, 8am-5:30pm, Cost: FREE, and come dressed in orange!

Maritime Day on the Waterfront // Maritime Day is a family oriented day-long public celebration of events and activities along the waterfront from Hyde Street Pier in the north to Heron’s Head Park (Pier 98) in the south. Cruises, open exhibits, kayaking or lectures.

Oakland Veg Week Finale // Celebrate the second annual Oakland Veg Week and pledge to be vegetarian this week. In this cooking lesson, you’ll learn how to make household favorites, including plant-based meats, cheeses or butter. You’ll also learn how to cook delicious plant-based desserts without using any extracted oils or sugars.
