Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order on Friday directing counties to send all registered voters mail-in ballots.
The executive order states that since it’s unknown to what degree the coronavirus will pose a threat to public health in November, counties must begin taking action now. It also states that it’s essential that those who may need access to in-person voting, such as those experiencing homelessness, will still be able to exercise their right to vote. All 58 counties must have clarity regarding requirements for in-person voting no later than May 30.
