Tina Pamintuan

General Manager

Tina Pamintuan got her start in radio as a college DJ working the early morning shift, and came to journalism through an internship at National Public Radio (NPR). Over the next six years, she continued to work at NPR in editorial and production positions for Morning Edition’s Radio Expeditions and NPR’s cultural desk. In that time, she founded Xtreme Youth Zone Media, a training program for Washington, DC, teenagers. She also served as Editor at Open City Magazine, a publication covering Asian American immigrant neighborhoods in New York City.


Before coming to KALW in 2018, Tina Pamintuan created and founded the audio journalism program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY where she taught for 12 years.

President Trump is speaking to the nation following attacks on military bases in Iraq where U.S. troops are stationed. Trump tweeted on Tuesday night that "All is well!" and that an assessment of the casualties was underway. Iran said the missiles were launched as an act of self-defense after the U.S. killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.

We are deeply saddened to share the news that Ken Taylor, host of Philosophy Talk and Stanford University professor, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 2, 2019. Ken was the voice and force behind Philosophy Talk, which has aired on KALW since 2005. He was a teacher and scholar, excellent and engaging host, and a wonderful person.

Ken will be very much missed. We wish his family and friends deep condolences in this difficult time.

September's Democratic presidential debate has been narrowed to one night only, as more candidates have called it quits altogether.

Ten candidates are on stage for three-hour event hosted by ABC News and Univision, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. It's the third debate of the campaign and the first time that former Vice President Joe Biden, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are all together.

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron are holding a press conference from the G-7 summit of world economic leaders in France. He had meetings with multiple heads of state over the weekend. The summit comes ahead of a looming recession and amid an ongoing trade war with China.

Former special counsel Robert Mueller is appearing in two separate hearings before the House judiciary and intelligence committees. Though Mueller has said his report on Russian interference in the 2016 election is his testimony, lawmakers have insisted that he testify in person. Watch the proceedings live.
