The first Monday of the shelter-in-place ordinance came with overcast skies over the San Francisco Bay Area. Streets normally bustling with commuter traffic were empty, supermarkets that were normally quick trips turned into ordeals as people waited in lines to walk in, and restaurants tried to find creative ways to get customers to order take out.
