Day 7: San Francisco Bay Area's Coronavirus Shutdown In Pictures

The first Monday of the shelter-in-place ordinance came with overcast skies over the San Francisco Bay Area. Streets normally bustling with commuter traffic were empty, supermarkets that were normally quick trips turned into ordeals as people waited in lines to walk in, and restaurants tried to find creative ways to get customers to order take out. This collection of photos from around the region gives a glimpse at how people went about their lives.

Ozzy Llinas Goodman is a freelance writer and journalist based in Berkeley. Their reporting interests include the uses and policing of public space, underground communities and solidarity economies, and other topics related to human movement, urban space, and civil rights.
