Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, many people in Palo Alto believe the fierce culture of competition and stifling academic pressure isn't healthy for teenagers. Some people even say it’s the cause of a recent trend of suicides in the city. Over the past five years, At least eight teenagers have tried to kill themselves. In a recent article in the San Francisco Magazine, journalist Diana Kapp investigated various theories as to why this is happening. She told Leah Rose from the podcast, "The Upshot," there's not a simple explanation.
The fact that these suicides have been happening in this town has a big impact on that they continue to happen.
