Two friends of the show, Brian Adam McCune and Royal Jelly Jive, stop by our studio tonight 9-11 pm for previews of new music and upcoming performances.
Brian Adam McCune Molano is a Colombian-American composer born in West Virginia, raised in Durham, North Carolina, and now based in Oakland. He is a founding member the Awesöme Orchestra Collective, serving as a percussionist and arranger. He'll join host Devon Strolovitch in the studio to talk about his new EP, Then and Now.
Since forming in San Francisco's own Boom Boom Room in the summer of 2013, Royal Jelly Jive have released two hard-grooving albums that combine swingin' horns, gritty keys and a bumpin' rhythm section with elements of Soul, Rock, Swing and Hip-Hop, while singer Lauren Bjelde's sultry voice and songwriting lands somewhere in-between Amy Winehouse and Tom Waits. The band performs live on the air ahead of a performance this Saturday 12/08 at at The Independent in San Francisco.
