Weekend Go-Tos for October 30, 2015

Laugh and scream along with Abbott & Costello tonight at Oakland's Paramount Theatre.

In our preparations for this weekend’s spooky celebrations, we’ve chosen a few top shelf activities and events to do around our Bay Area.

Tonight, the art deco film palace, The Paramount Theater is hosting their bi-monthly movie classics night, with a showing of Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. The show starts at 8:00 p.m., but make sure to get there earlier so you can get a good seat and hear the organ play. Also, you won’t want to miss the "Deco-Win," and vintage newsreels and cartoons. Find out more information at paramounttheatre.com.

If you’d rather look for spooks in the fresh air, the Marin Headlands will host a night hike in search of two inhabitants whose nightly sounds “haunt” many of their human visitors: the coyote and the great horned owl. The hike will begin at sundown. For location information and reservations call (415) 331-1540.

On Saturday, you’re invited to join Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos with folkloric dancing, religious services, sugar skull decorations for kids, presentation of the altar, and traditional lunch and mariachi. There will be a Catholic Mass at 10:00 a.m. and the event continues afterwards. Find all the details at hayward.chapelofthechimes.com.

And on Sunday morning, Daylight Savings Time ends and clocks should be falling back one hour. Most of you will gain an extra hour of sleep, but expect the sun to set much earlier.

Is there an event happening this weekend that you'd like folks to know about? Feel free to add it below in the comments section.
