On Sat., Sept. 12 (6:30 - 8:00 pm), we'll be treated to the initial broadcast of the forthcoming album by the Kathy Kallick Band, Foxhounds. Kathy and her mighty crew are among the top groups in contemporary acoustic music, and their new recording is a delight from start to finish. (It's also available as a thank-you gift for your support of KALW ...) The title song is one that Kathy wrote about visiting Bill Monroe in the early '80s, and sitting with him while his foxhounds ran free and howled their songs. This was a source of great pleasure for Monroe, and the KKB song and performance is a fitting tribute to the Father Of Bluegrass -- and an instant classic.
