The music you’re hearing is by Brian Gore, who calls himself a “guitar poet.” Gore defines that as playing the guitar “in service of song, over showmanship.” This San Francisco musician is on a national tour with three other performers, which they’re calling “International Guitar Night.” The only Bay Area stop will be this Saturday (01.26) at Brava Theater in the Mission. Music begins about 8pm.
This is Audiograph--the Bay Area’s sonic signature.
Each week, we’ll play you a sound recorded somewhere in the Bay Area. Your job? Listen to the sound (in the player above), figure out where it was recorded, and what exactly it is, then call us to let us know.
If you think you can identify this Audiograph sound of the week, call 415-264-7106. Also, tell us where to record next. We’ll give away a KALW t-shirt every week to one lucky caller.
Something special often happens when siblings play music together. That’s the case with brothers Jimmy and Vince Dewald. We have featured their former band, Buxter Hoot’n, before, but now they’re going in a new direction with a band called Brand New Trash. The Dewald brothers say they are trying for “a more cinematic expression of a song.”
