David Latulippe, in for Alan Farley, talks with violinist Pinchas Zukerman, who is performing the Bruch "Violin Concerto No.1" as part of the season-opening concerts of the San Francisco Symphony this week, under guest conductor Symon Bychkov.  He also talks with John Epperson, whose alter-ego, Lypsinka, opens at the Rrazz Room this week with "The Passion of the Crawford".  Broadcast from 9/6.

Alan Farley continues his exploration of the lyrics of Ira Gershwin with Gershwin biographer Philip Furia.  For these broadcasts, they sample "The Firebrand of Florence," which Ira Gershwin created with Kurt Weill, plus a look at the songs in the film, "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim."   Hear the broadcast anytime via KALW's Local Music Player.

Guest host David Latulippe presents Alan Farley's interviews with Marco Barricelli, Artistic Director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and Michael Morpurgo (rerun), author of the original story that inspired "Warhorse." David also talks with Dianne Keogh about recent cultural events. Thursday at 1 PM.

Barrington Pheloung is the composer of the original theme for the "Inspector Morse" television series, and he scored all 33 episodes. Today he is doing the same for the "Inspector Lewis" and "Endeavour" series. I visited him in his studio in England in 1997 for this program, where we see him at work on a "Morse" episode, and hear some of his other music. First broadcast in 1997. Thursday 1 PM.

The Zofo Piano Duo, Keisuke Nakagoshi and Eva-Maria Zimmerman, visit with host Alan Farley, and share excerpts from their new CD “Mind Meld – Works for One Piano, Four Hands.”  Airs Thursday 8/9 at 1pm.
