Your Call: The untold story of Native American enslavement

RAY JOHNSTON
The Other Slavery by Andrés Reséndez";

On the July 6th edition of Your Call, we revisit our conversation with Professor Andrés Reséndez. He joins us to discuss his new book, The Other Slavery, the Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America

From the days of Columbus to the beginning of the 20th Century, between 2.5 and 5 million Indigenous people were enslaved across the Americas.  While most Americans have learned about epidemics such as smallpox decimating indigenous populations, Reséndez agues slavery played a more significant role.

Why is there little known about Native American slavery? What are the ripple effects of that legacy today? It's Your Call with Rose Aguilar and you.

Guest:

Andrés Reséndez, author of The Other Slavery, The Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America, and professor in the Department of History at University of California, Davis
