Weekend Go-Tos for July 9, 2015

Kathryn Rummel
"Flower Piano" performance series kicks off this weekend at the San Francisco Botanical Garden.

It looks like we are in for a sunny weekend here in the Bay Area, and we have a few suggestions on how you can have some fun in the sun.

SF Jazz’s Summer Jazz series is in full swing, and tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., they’re presenting vocalist Pamela Rose in a free concert in the courtyard at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. You are welcomed to bring blankets, snacks, and lawn chairs too, but be sure they are low, so everyone can have a chance to enjoy the sights along with the sounds. If you can’t make it tonight, there are still many Thursday evening concerts left on SF Jazz’s summer line-up. You can find all the details at sfjazz.org.

The San Francisco Botanical Garden has their own series of music performances scheduled over the summer as well. This Saturday, you are encouraged to seek out one of the twelve pianos tucked within the 55 acres of flower-filled gardens, all of which will be played by professional pianists throughout the day. Check out who will be tinkling the ivories among the lilies, at the San Francisco Botanical Garden's website.

And tomorrow, the circus is coming to Oakland. The Bay Area troupe Circus Bella will bring a full hour of rope walking, juggling, contortion, hula-hooping, clowning and more to the Studio One Arts Center in Oakland tomorrow evening, starting at 6:00 p.m. This is a free performance, set to an original soundtrack of New Orleans Jazz, Klezmer, and, of course, American Circus March. Head to Circus Bella's website for more information.

Is there an event happening this weekend that you'd like folks to know about? Feel free to add it below in the comments section.
