With 7 albums to his name and career spanning over 20 years, Sean Hayes’ music has adopted many different styles and reached a wide and diverse audience. If there’s one thing that has remained constant, though, it’s that his interest in music and songwriting revolves around framing a moment in time. That could be with his own work - chronicling a small piece of his life with raw and honest writing, but also in the music that inspires him. Whether that's the blues guitar of Junior Kimbrough, or a live concert of Nina Simone in the Village or the San Francisco living rooms that Jolie Holland recorded in during the late 90s.
Sean Hayes sat down with host Max Jacobs to spin some of his favorite records and perform some of his music from over the years.
Catch Sean Hayes at the New Parish in Oakland on February 20.
