This week on Open Air, host David Latulippe talks with comedian Colin Quinn, who is in town for the San Francisco debut of his all-new stand-up show, ‘One in Every Crowd’, at A.C.T.’s Strand Theater.

From Theatreworks Silicon Valley, we meet with actor Max Tachis and director Jeffrey Lo to discuss the current production of ‘The Santaland Diaries’, running through December 23 at the Lohman Theatre in Los Altos Hills.

Based on an essay by David Sedaris, and adapted by Tony award winning director and actor Joe Mantello, ‘The Santaland Diaries’ tells the largely fictional story of Sedaris’ short tenure as Crumpet the Elf in ‘Santaland’ at a Macy’s department store, and his way of dealing with child meltdowns, overbearing parents, and complacent Santas.

And we hear from young actor Jonah Broscow about his starring role in the San Francisco Playhouse production of ‘A Christmas Story: The Musical’, directed by Susi Damilano.

With music and lyrics by Tony- and Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, ‘A Christmas Story’ is based on the classic 1983 film of the same name, in which a nine-year old boy named old Ralphie Parker (Jonah Broscow) wants nothing more for Christmas than an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action BB Gun.

‘A Christmas Story: The Musical’ runs through January 13 at San Francisco Playhouse, 450 Post Street.

Open Air with host David Latulippe; heard live on Thursday, December 14 at 1pm. Listen now or anytime…
