Veteran Irish Folk Musician Mick Moloney and fiddler Athena Tergis will stop by the KALW studios this Saturday at 4 pm.  They'll play a few tunes and talk about Mick's research into the music of Irish-Americans and their contributions to vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley.

The great Irish fiddler Martin Hayes and guitarist Dennis Cahill return to Folk Music & Beyond for a live performance this Saturday February 25th at 3 pm.  Hayes ranks among the most innovative and distinguished fiddlers playing traditional music today.

Members played selections from their latest recording "Dancing In The Isles: Baroque and Traditional Music from England, Scotland, and Ireland."  Judith Linsenberg on recorder, Elizabeth Blumenstock on baroque violin, Shirley Hunt on baroque cello, Charles Sherman on harpsichord, and John Loose on percussion.

Art songs, chansons, jazz, and sung poetry.  Music by Jacques Brel and Gabriel Yacoub from France, Robb Johnson from England, Melanie O'Reilly from Ireland, and others.

Listen anytime this week via KALW's Local Music Player.  Folk Music & Beyond's special guest is John Cruz, award-winning singer-songwriter from Hawaii.  John is a guitarist, story-teller, and teacher and serves as cultural ambassador for Hawaii.  He was chosen to play at President Obama's inauguration.  John will perform a few songs and tell lots of stories.  We'll hear songs from his recent recordings "Acoustic Soul" and "One Of These Days."
