David Latulippe

Announcer, Arts & Cultural Host

David Latulippe is a voice actor as well as a vocalist, flutist and piccolo player.  He has been heard in various orchestral and chamber music settings with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony, the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, Golden Gate Opera, the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra and the BC Orchestra, and has performed internationally as soloist and with orchestras in Austria, Ireland and Taiwan.  He has also narrated such children’s classics as Peter & the Wolf and Tubby the Tuba.

While living in New York, David was heard on New York City’s signature public radio station, WNYC, as host for news and classical music programs.  He was music consultant to director Mike Nichols, for his HBO productions of Wit and Angels in America.  Recent commercial work include on and off-camera projects for Roundtable Pizza, RadioShack, Yahoo! and the Marin Dreamhouse Raffle, among others.

For KALW, David is an announcer and administrator and was co-founding producer of Out in the Bay.  He has hosted and produced From the Conservatory, Music from Mills, and Music at Menlo, and is principal guest host for Then & Now.  He is currently host of Open Air, Explorations in Music, and the Berkeley Symphony broadcasts.

David lives in San Francisco with his partner of 25 years, Ronn Seely, and a ceaselessly entertaining cat named Midge.  Visit his website.

On Open Air, KALW's weekly magazine of arts and cultural events, host Alan Farley's guests are conductor Jane Glover (pictured), who is leading the San Francisco Symphony this week in the Brandenburg Concertos and other "Baroque Delights" ; Stephanie Rhoads, from the cast of "Zorba" at 42nd Street Moon; and Anne Elias and Mark Ellinger from Cutting Ball Theatre, who talk about their production of "Tenderloin."  Thursday at 1pm.

Live on Tangents!

Continuing the spirit of KALW's live folk fest, host Dore Stein offered "Tangential Americana" with guest David Harrington of the Kronos Quartet on this past Saturday's Tangents.  He was guest DJ in the 8 o'clock hour.   The 9pm hour included David and multi-instrumentalist, singer, and Emmy award winning composer Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ.  (Listen anytime this week via KALW's Local Music Player "Tangents")

Berkeley Symphony 4/22/12

Berkeley Symphony Broadcast

KALW's exclusive broadcasts of the Berkeley Symphony continues on Sunday, April 22 at 4pm.  Guest conductor Jayce Ogren leads the ensemble with Sarah Cahill as piano soloist for Lou Harrison's "Piano Concerto".   Also on the program, the West Coast Premiere of Lei Liang's "Verge" and Sibelius' "Symphony No. 5".  Alan Farley hosts, with intermission interviews.
